Paper Roundtrip guide

Annotate PDFs on your Galaxy Tab. Bring them back to your Mac.

Send a PDF from Finder, mark it up with S Pen, and return the finished copy beside the original without putting the file through a cloud drive.

The short answer

Your PDF can make a roundtrip without becoming a project.

TabShare keeps the original Mac file in place, sends a working copy to the paired Galaxy Tab, and remembers enough context to place the exported result safely when it comes back.

01

Choose one local PDF on your Mac

In Finder, choose Mark on Samsung Tab from the TabShare actions. Paper Roundtrip starts with one file stored on this Mac so TabShare can remember where it belongs.

02

Open the arrival from TabShare

Your Galaxy Tab shows the PDF as Ready to mark. Open it from TabShare in Samsung Notes or another PDF app so the return stays connected to this roundtrip.

03

Write, highlight, or sign with S Pen

Make the changes in your chosen PDF app. The app owns the handwriting and edits; TabShare leaves the PDF contents alone.

04

Export or share the finished PDF

Use the PDF app's Share or Export action and choose TabShare. Export a PDF rather than dragging or sharing a private Samsung Notes note card.

05

Continue beside the Mac original

When the original folder is still available and the match is certain, TabShare saves a new marked copy beside the original. Otherwise it keeps the return safe and places it in Needs Review.

Before you begin

Three things make the roundtrip predictable.

Paper Roundtrip is deliberately narrow: one Mac-owned document, one paired Galaxy Tab, and one ordinary PDF your tablet app can share back.

A local Mac PDF

The starting PDF must be stored on this Mac so TabShare can remember the folder it came from.

Your paired Galaxy Tab

Pair once with Private Link so the document returns through the same trusted device relationship.

A PDF app with Share or Export

Samsung Notes and other PDF apps can work when they expose the finished document as an ordinary PDF.

A clear division of work

TabShare moves the document. Your PDF app owns the marks.

TabShare does not read Samsung Notes private storage or alter your annotations. It works with the ordinary PDF that your chosen app makes available through Share or Export.

TabShare

Keeps the Mac starting point, delivers the PDF, and handles the returned file.

Your PDF app

Creates the handwriting, highlights, comments, and exported result.

Your Mac

Places the returned copy beside the original, or asks you to review when the destination is uncertain.

A safe return

The marked copy comes back. The original stays untouched.

A healthy return creates a new collision-safe file such as design-review - marked.pdf beside the Mac original. TabShare never replaces the source PDF as part of Paper Roundtrip.

Beside the original

A current, confidently matched roundtrip returns automatically when the original folder is still writable.

Needs Review

If the folder is unavailable or the match is uncertain, the returned PDF stays safe until you choose where it belongs.

Another return

Sharing the marked PDF again creates another collision-safe copy instead of overwriting the original or an earlier return.

When something changed

A broken path should become a clear decision, not a lost file.

Your Mac may have restarted, the original may have moved, or its folder may no longer be writable. TabShare keeps the received PDF in its Returned folder and surfaces Needs Review so you can open the copy, place it beside the original, or decide later.

The Tab is unavailable

The Mac keeps the original in place and reports that the send could not begin; no roundtrip is silently completed.

The original moved

The return is preserved for review instead of being placed by guesswork.

The export is not a PDF

Return matching is designed for the ordinary exported document; use your app's PDF export when you want a marked PDF back.

Why use a roundtrip

The file comes back to the work you already had open.

A cloud drive is a good fit when you already keep an entire folder synchronized, and a general sender is enough for a one-off delivery. Paper Roundtrip is for the moment when one Mac document needs the Galaxy Tab and S Pen, then needs to return to the same piece of work without replacing the original.

Good to know

Clear answers before you begin.

Does TabShare edit the PDF?

No. Your Galaxy Tab PDF app creates the annotations. TabShare moves the resulting file without changing its contents.

Does TabShare read my Samsung Notes library?

No. Samsung Notes support uses the normal Share or Export action for PDF, image, or text.

Does Paper Roundtrip overwrite the original PDF?

No. A verified return creates a new collision-safe marked copy. The original Mac file remains untouched.

Can I use a PDF app other than Samsung Notes?

Yes. The app needs to open the received PDF and make the finished document available through Android Share or Export as an ordinary PDF.

What happens if TabShare cannot identify the original?

The Mac keeps the returned file safe in its Returned folder and shows Needs Review instead of guessing where to place it.
